The 14-year-old - who performs with his pals in Manchester city centre to raise money for dance lessons - won the hearts of Mancunians a long time ago.
But last night he also won the hearts of people across the country after record numbers voted to put him through to the final of the ITV1 talent show.
The Warrington youngster missed out on a semi-final place in last year's series.
Last night he danced to Singing in the Rain underneath an artificial rain cloud which left him drenched at the end.
Judge Amanda Holden, who was reduced to tears by the performance, said: "You're just inspirational and I can see you're absolutely dancing for your life and I want it as bad as you do. It was brilliant."
The crowd was also behind the youngster, chanting 'Final! 'Final!' Taken aback by their reaction, he said: "That was the greatest performance I have ever done."
Heart
The teenager - who has battled problems with his back and a medical condition which causes temporary blindness - has had his heart set on a career as a professional dancer.
But money is tight, so most weekends he takes to the streets to raise money to pay for dance lessons.
Since his appearance on Britain's Got Talent the crowds have grown.
His mum Lesley, who comes with George when he busks, said his popularity had not come without problems.
She said that during the two years he has been busking, George and his pals have been 'bullied off the streets' a number of times by street wardens concerned the crowds were causing an obstruction.

And why is the programme featured on GMTV every day? Cowell has some kind of monopoly on light entertainment, it seems to me.

Here in the Netherlands they have the same program called "Netherlands has talent". The other night, they had a girl on who could cry milk! She took a drink, held her nose and squirted the milk out of her eye ducts!
Bizarre…………..
