Directed by Shane Meadows and set in the early 80s when the Falklands conflict, Mrs Thatcher and riots ruled the headlines, it is by no means a nostalgic look at the decade.
The action plays out to a nostalgic soundtrack though, including ska classics and even Manchester's The Smiths.
I'm told that actors Jo Hartley, Andrew Ellis, Stephen Graham and Joe Gilgun feel so passionately about the movie, they've agreed to travel up to the Cornerhouse Cinema for an introduction to the film before the 8.40pm screening on Friday night.
