Kyle Howarth, the Ashton rider who topped the Belle Vue Colts averages last season, has signed to race for leading Premier League club Workington next season.

The 17-year-old, one of the brightest young talents in British speedway, is spending his second winter gaining further racing experience in Australia where he won the Queensland Under-21 Championship last Sunday.

Howarth spent the season just finished doubling up between the National League Colts and Premier League Edinburgh, where he achieved a creditable 4.32 average.

Workington chief Keith Denham said: “Kyle is really excited about joining us. He enjoys riding at our big track and we look forward to seeing him progress in Comets colours next season.” Tweet
