Belle Vue starlet signs for Workington

Kyle Howarth, the Ashton rider who topped the Belle Vue Colts averages last season, has signed to race for leading Premier League club Workington next season.

The 17-year-old, one of the brightest young talents in British speedway, is spending his second winter gaining further racing experience in Australia where he won the Queensland Under-21 Championship last Sunday.

Howarth spent the season just finished doubling up between the National League Colts and Premier League Edinburgh, where he achieved a creditable 4.32 average.

Workington chief Keith Denham said: “Kyle is really excited about joining us. He enjoys riding at our big track and we look forward to seeing him progress in Comets colours next season.”
