The 24-year-old Californian was determined to make sure it stuck with British promoters when he came over for the first time with the American Touring Team.
A Belle Vue Colts team edged a thrilling match, which went down to a last-heat decider in a match which paid a fitting tribute to former Aces star Kelly Moran, the American World Cup hero, who died in April.
And Burmeister was very much to the fore of a brave fight by the visitors. He soon got to grips with the traditionally tricky Belle Vue circuit to have two wins and two seconds in five rides as he impressed with a very tidy, smooth style.
He handed defeats to Colts stars Craig Cook and Jason Garrity, although they beat him in the final race to ensure the home victory.
Aces chief Chris Morton said: “It was a great meeting and I was very impressed with the effort put in by the American riders.
“They did very well when you think they had never been here before because Belle Vue is a difficult track for anyone to ride for the first time.
“Both teams were very determined and they put on some first-class racing but I was very impressed with Burmeister in particular.
“He had a lovely style. I was told to look out for him before the meeting and I can see why.”
Steve Evans, the American side’s manager, said: “We wanted to showcase our talent at a track which has such a great affiliation with American riders and I think we achieved this.”
Belle Vue Colts: C Cook 14, J Garrity 11, A Wrathall 10, J Pickard 5, K Howarth 5, S Worrall 2, S Richardson 1.
American Touring Team: T Burmeister 11, M Buman 10, B Starks 7, E Castro 6, S McConnell 5, J Marquez 2, R Sauer 1.

Morton wants to start looking closer to home.
Whilst he's raving about foreigners, he's missing what's right under his nose. Craig Cook and Jason Garrity were by far the best riders on show last night. And one of them lives walking distance from the track.
Remeber when you rode Mr Morton? Your teammates Peter Collins, Alan Wilkinson, Les Collins, Chris Pusey, Chris Turner, Ian HIndle, Paul Tyrer, Chris Turner, Jim Brett....all good English lads with pride in their club, not foreign mercenaries.
Buy British
I am sure that Jellyman was watching.RIP Kelly Moran.
Kelly Moran ..... his own man. Taken too soon but boy did he enjoy life and put 100% into everything he did. RIP.
All this talk about foreign mercenaries!I remember when England or Great Britain.Couldn't field a team.It was Ivan Mauger & Barry Briggs who got the points for us.What about The Morans.Ove fundin,Ivan Mauger,Sandor Levei Soren Sjosten RIP.and many more who carride Belle Vue Aces.A Fan For 45 Years. Not forgetting Jason Crump.
Canonball (sic) you need a history lesson.
When Briggs and Mauger rode for Great Britain it wasn't because Great Britain couldn't field a team, it was because Australia and New Zealand couldn't field a team.
In those days Australian & New Zealand Speedway didn't have their own governing bodies (Now controlled by MA and MNZ), so control of their international duties came under the jurisdiction of the British Auto-Cycle Union.
The ACU had to pick the best team from the riders at their disposal, so naturally this included Briggs & Mauger.
If the ACU hadn't got the Aussie & NZ riders to pick from, they would still have ruled the world with solely British riders...We were so strong in those days....Ray Wilson, Martin Ashby, the Boococks, Simmons, Jessup, Collins, Louis, Kennett, Davis, etc etc etc.
It's the influx of too many foreigners in recent years which has seen Britain decline as a world force, just as it has in Football.
Kelly Moran R.I.P I loved ur racing, I loved ur honesty. Top lad, really missed, say hi to me dad!
It was the other way round!Or was Ivan Mauger telling Lies?i doubt it. Anyway England are and were Crap.at WTC Level. It was only PC and Chris Morton & Kenny Carter who were any good.now they couldn't win a piss pot.So nothing has really changed.
