The Belle Vue star goes into in the final German Grand Prix at Gelsenkirchen lying second in the world championship but Denmark's Nicki Pedersen has a 16-point lead and is hot favourite for the title, even though he suffered a heavy fall in Poland last Sunday.
However, Crump and Polish riders Rune Holta and Tomasz Gollob have qualified for the 200,000 dollar Superprix race, which climaxes the season.
The cash has been doubled this year and Crump warmed up for the last big night of the season by defying a groin injury to win the prestige Elite League Riders' championship at Birmingham on Wednesday.
Crump said: "It will take a miracle for me to win the World title now but it would be fantastic to walk away with the 120,000 dollars."
GP standing after 10 of 11 rounds: N Pedersen 161, J Crump 145, GHancock 129, T Gollob 127, H Andersen 123, L Adams 110, A Jonsson 88, RHolta 73, S Nicholls 70, B Pedersen 66, F Lindgren 64, N-K Iversen 59, CHarris 54, K Kasprzak 52.

Belle Vue Colts whiz-kid Jason Garrity will be aiming to follow in the tyre tracks of his Belle Vue namesake Jason Crump at Buxton on Saturday.
Double world champion Crump landed the Aces’ first silverware of the season when he claimed the prestigious Elite League Riders’ Championship title at Birmingham on Wednesday, and he will pick up at least a World Championship silver medal when he rides in the final Grand Prix of the season at Gelsenkirchen, Germany on Saturday night.
But before then it will be the younger Jason’s turn to go for glory when he races in the final round of the British Under 15 Championship at Buxton on Saturday (3.00pm)
14 year old Garrity, who lives just a stone’s throw away from the Aces’ Kirkmanshulme Lane track leads the series after three rounds with 44 points, ahead of Eastbourne’s John Resch on 43, Sheffield-based James Sargeant (41) and Ipswich’s Joe Jacobs (38).
But with each rider allowed to drop their lowest score from the 4 completed rounds, it means the race for the title could go right down to Saturday’s final heat.
Belle Vue Colts team managers Stephen Williams and Graham Goodwin are urging Aces fans to make the trip down to Buxton to give their pint-sized superstar some home support.
They said “It promises to be a cracking meeting, and of course the chance to bring another British title back to Belle Vue”
Previous winners of the title include Josh Auty who is now established in Redcar’s Premier League team, and Workington’s 17 year-old Bolton-based Joe Haines, who underlined his amazing talent by top-scoring as a guest for Coventry in their Elite League match at Belle Vue on Monday.
Meanwhile Garrity has finished on the rostrum in each of the three rounds so far this year, taking third place at Stoke and Weymouth, and the runner up spot at Workington.
The Colts bosses said “Jason really deserves the title after the consistent performances he has put in so far, and it would be a massive boost for Belle Vue to have the British U15 title”.
