But Belle Vue's new signings rode a wheel with a difference when they paid their first visit to Manchester to sign their contracts for the season which starts at Kirkmanshulme Lane on March 21.
They took a spin on the Manchester Evening News-Channel M Wheel to take a look at the city and beyond.
Jankowski and Rajkowski got a long-distance look at Old Trafford but took a close-up view later when they went to watch United's 6-0 demolition of Newcastle before flying home.
They mean to be on a wheel of fortune on their return when they will take a step up in class to face the world's best riders in the Elite League and, hopefully, help to make the Aces a genuine force again.
Both are confident they can lift their averages with Jankowski, 25, on an assessed figure of four and Rajkowski on 3.10, half the mark he achieved with Premier League Newport last season.
Jankowski, who was an Oxford asset last season until the track closed, had been given a five-point average by the Promoters' Association until the Aces asked for a recalculation.
Honour
He said: "It is an honour for me to be able to ride for a club like Belle Vue, especially in their 80th season.
"It was a good effort by the club management that they managed to have my average reduced from five to four because that allowed me to fit into the team and race in England.
"It's difficult to say what my average will be at the end of the season. It would be okay if I could get it up to five but my main aim is just to raise it."
Rajkowski, 23, said: "I had a good season at Newport last season so I felt it was the right time for me to try the Elite League.
"I will be racing against better riders so I will be able to learn and to improve.
"I am happy, too, that I will be riding in the same team as Jason Crump and Joe Screen so I will be able to learn from experienced top riders like them. I would be happy to reach an average between five and six points and I think I can achieve that."
Rajkowski will have the slightly easier job in the first instance because his lesser average means he will start the season at the bottom end of the team in a reserve berth while Jankowski will be in the main body at either No 2 or No 4.
Rajkowski will not be racing in the Polish League, at least in the early part of the season, so he will be based in Manchester.
He added: "Living here also means I will be able to improve my English. I learned it at school but staying in Newport last year was a big help."
Aces' bosses are hoping the presence of the two riders in the side will attract more members of the Polish community to Kirkmanshulme Lane.
Supremo David Gordon said: "Speedway is massive in Poland so we are sure there are people who have come over here to work who would like to watch Lukasz and Michal."
How do you think Aces will do? Have your say.
