They need a cutting edge rider to replace Jason Crump, who left for Poole this season, and hoped that 22-year-old Lindback would supply that power when they persuaded him to return to British speedway in June.
But, so far, it hasn't worked out with Lindback struggling to recover from a hand injury he suffered riding for Sweden in a World Cup match at Coventry on July 16.
His frustration was increased on Monday when bike problems limited him to just four points in the 52-40 home Elite League defeat by champions Peterborough.
The Aces were battling to solve the trouble in time for tonight's match at Poole, Lindback's parent club which he left in acrimonious circumstances last season after illness and injury problems.
Lindback has shown his true form in rare flashes this season, a semi-final Grand Prix appearance in Copenhagen being his best performance to date.
But he is presenting the Aces management with a dilemma because their ultimate priority for 2008, if they are to continue in top level speedway, is to find a true No 1 rider.
Lindback, at his best, could be that rider but the current Lindback is not.
He is still running on last season's average of 7.94 because he hasn't done enough meetings this season, six at home and six away, to establish a new figure.
Attractive
If he does, and it is around the five or six mark, it will make him an attractive proposition to other clubs who are always looking for riders with the potential to improve their averages.
That is what happened to the Aces over Kenneth Bjerre last season. They stood by him when he rode below his best while recovering from a serious injury and then Peterborough took him on a snip of an average for £20,000 .
Aces' promoter Chris Morton said: "Antonio is still a Poole asset and he is in the shop window for next season. We would be very interested in having him back here if he can achieve an eight-point average like he did last year.
"We are looking for him to show us now that he can get back to that level and he is well aware of that.
"We can't lay too many plans yet for next year because we know there are going to be changes in the structure of the Elite League but we don't know yet what the new regime is going to be.
"However, we have got to look at all the possibilities, and, clearly, one of those is Antonio Lindback."
Lindback faces another difficult night on Saturday when he rides in the Latvian Grand Prix at Daugavpils. Then he's at Reading with the Aces on Monday before riding in the return on Wednesday.
The cut-price promotion, being run in conjunction with the Manchester Evening News and Channel M, will continue for that match. Adult admission is £10 instead of £15, with seniors, students and children over 10 paying £5.
A family ticket, for two adults and three children, is £22 instead of £32.

never mind lindback he isnt good enough CHRIS HARRIS is the man to lead the aces in 2008 so come boocock sort it
Toninho is not ready to be a No.1. However, he could have a useful average next season if we could get him to ride.
I know he's had an awkward injury, but seems to lack focus and the enthusiasm for getting back in the saddle.
On the positive side at least we had the rare opportunity of seeing Antonio Lindback riding at Belle Vue.
Although, we were tempted to get out our Swedish phrase books to set up a football-style chant of 'Who are you?', 'Who are you?', 'Who are you?' etc.
You're right Ian, he doesn't look keen. When you watch him there is a lot of negative body language. BUT, he hasn't become a bad rider that quickly and he could be spot on for us next season on an artificially low average, the essence of building a strong team. If we believe he can recapture his form.
