Women's Football: Oldham's last eight date

OLDHAM Curzon Ladies will be chasing a massive prize when they visit

Tranmere Rovers in the AXA FA Women's Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

The winners face the prospect of a dream home date with holders and

reigning FA Women's Premier League champions, Arsenal, who are expected to

sink Doncaster Belles to book their semi-final spot.

Oldham Curzon are through to the last-eight for the first time in their

14-year history thanks to a stunning 2-1 victory at Southampton Saints last

weekend.

It was also the first time the Northern Division high-fliers had ever

beaten a team from women's soccer's National tier - a feat Oldham Curzon

will have to repeat against Tranmere if they're to line up a likely meeting

with the mighty Arsenal.

Club spokesman Graham Shuttleworth said: "We know it's going to be tough

against Tranmere, who lie just above Southampton in the National Division,

but at least we now know we're capable of beating teams at that level."

The tie takes place at Heswall's Brimstage Road ground. Kick-off's at

1pm.
