Becks axes SFX to focus on football

DAVID Beckham has parted company with his commercial agents and pledged to concentrate on his playing career.

The England captain announced he had left the SFX sports group and would turn down new advertising deals.

Beckham wants to focus all his efforts on playing for Real Madrid and ensuring England has a successful Euro 2004 campaign, his spokeswoman said.

A statement released by the Beckham camp last night said: "David Beckham has confirmed he has parted company with the SFX sports group."

However, SFX chairman Jon Holmes said: "We are very surprised to learn of this development given that Daviud Beckham remains under contract to SFX for the next two years."

Beckham's statement added that he would continue to employ his friend and long-term football agent Tony Stephens, who would look after his football affairs.

NOW he decides to stop his self promoting BS. If he made the decision a year earlier he might still be at United, cos he 'never wanted to leave'. Oh well, nice penalty on saturday, as a non-england supporter I was ecstatic!

If Beckham had done this two years ago Fergie may not have felt the need to get rid of him. It just shows that despite the front he was not giving everything to our club.

Agree with the comments already published. His performances for RM this season show he wasnt up for league football any more. Now he is. Shame he couldn't have come out with it before he left, instead of letting his PR people tell how he would play for United for nothing, etc.
