Hornets showed their best form when Damian Ball, Sean Cooper and Jon Roper crossed in an inspired first-half spell, but their second-half fade-out, when they leaked seven tries, will concern coach Martin Hall ahead of their National League opener against Oldham on Thursday.
Leigh, who travel to Hull KR on Good Friday, at least recovered some face after their shock defeat at Chorley.
