PETER Kenyon has refused to give up on the Premiership title, believing Manchester United's players and manager will see their Mission Impossible as a challenge.

The chief executive sounded an optimistic note in his exclusive interview with M.E.N. Sport, saying :

''Nobody wants to concede the title. Mathematically we can still do it. Some of the teams who are up there have not had a down-turn in form yet.

''Having suffered six defeats you do have to say you are less confident than with just two losses under your belt.

''But there is a long way to go and the next five or six games are critically important to us in terms of results and regaining our form. I can assure everybody that we are fully, fully focused on that and the manager is more so than anybody.''

''Manchester United are at their best from a football point of view, from a business point of view and from the fans' point of view when we are up against it. ''

Kenyon does not believe bankrolling a revival is the way forward at this stage.

''The reality is that you start your season with what you believe is the squad required to achieve what you believe you have to do,'' says Kenyon.

''Whilst there are transfer windows that open up this month and in January there are an awful lot of the players of the quality we are looking for who are cup-tied in Europe.''
