PIERRE Allard swapped his hockey stick for some haute cuisine at Sale's Belmore hotel and restaurant last week.

Manchester Storm's French Canadian forward was the guest of proprietor Carol Deauville's Brooklands Road establishment at an exclusive champagne tasting evening.

Pierre, a French Canadian from Montreal, tried his arm in the kitchen prior to a sumptuous meal and then revealed his own culinary talents, saying: ''My friend Roman Camos is a chef in the restaurant and he asked my wife Antoinette and I to come along."

Now Pierre is hoping to cook up some success for struggling Manchester Storm who travel to play Belfast Giants on Friday.
