BELLE Vue have made a shock bid to race twice a week at Kirkmanshulme Lane next season.

The Aces' management, who have already sealed a deal for the senior side to continue racing on Mondays, are locked in talks with their Greyhound Racing Association landlords to start Conference League racing for their juniors on Wednesdays.

The Colts have just won the Northern Youth Development League and the management are keen to enable them to progress in Belle Vue colours, rather then drift away to other clubs.

General manager Terry Vernon said: ''We are sick of seeing youngsters going to Sheffield or Buxton because we cannot give them enough racing.

''We are in talks with the GRA for permission to have Conference racing on Wednesdays and they are considering it.

''Finance is a problem because it won't draw the amount of fans who watch Elite League racing.

''But we have proposed a five-month summer season so there will be no need for floodlighting and there are other measures we can consider.''
