MANCHESTER United's shooting stars will need a derby landslide against Bolton to overtake their best ever goalscoring start to a league season.
Ruud van Nistelrooy and Co have clocked up 25 goals in their opening eight Premiership matches.
That constitutes United's best scoring start to a league campaign since the 1907-08 season when the eventual First Division champions scored 27 over the same period.
That side scored six in their ninth match against Blackburn Rovers leaving the modern day Reds with eight goals to find on Saturday to overtake them!
But despite being set to fall short of another record, Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with his team's goal threat.
''The result against Deportivo was disappointing but don't let us forget that we made eight chances during the match,'' he pointed out.
''To create eight goalscoring opportunities in a game of that high quality is tremendous and you have to be satisfied with that.
''Ruud van Nistelrooy took both his goals well and could have scored another couple. Andy Cole and Ryan Giggs both had opportunities, so I am pleased with how we are going about our chance creating.
''The standard of that side of our play and Deportivo's on Wednesday was magnificent.''
