NEW St Helens recruit Darren Britt is a surprise inclusion in Australia's train-on squad for the Ashes tour.

The Kangaroo selectors have broken new ground by choosing a player who has committed his future to Super League.

Prop forward Britt, who has been outstanding for Canterbury Bulldogs this season, has signed a two-year deal with Saints.

He is one of seven players added to the Aussie squad, which will be finalised on October 1.
