IAN MILLWARD is tipping fellow Aussie Steve Anderson to be a big hit with Warrington Wolves.
Millward, boss of treble champions St Helens, knows the new Wolves chief well after working alongside Anderson at Illawarra Steelers.
''He has an astute mind, is very relaxed and will do a great job,'' said Millward.
''Warrington have made a good choice and he's doing the right thing now giving the youngsters a chance to earn contracts for next year.
''He also worked at Gold Coast, Perth and Melbourne before joining Leeds as Performance Director.''
And Anderson added: ''Ian Millward and I go back a long way. I was in charge of development at Illawarra when Ian was Under-21s coach and he has done remarkably well.
''He served an apprenticeship for about 12 years in Australia before coaching Leigh, and I'm not surprised about his success at Saints.
''I'll always be grateful to Ian's dad Bob, who was chief executive at Illawarra and gave me a job.''
Anderson had no hesitation in accepting the Warrington job after first choice Neil Kelly decided to stay at promoted Widnes Vikings.
''I was enjoying my time at Leeds but this is the chance to handle everything at Warrington.
''I'm in charge of coaching, contracts, budgets, recruitment and marketing.
''It's a big job but I've brought in David Plange, who impressed me as Leeds Academy coach, and the rebuilding has started.''
