MANCHESTER City's clash with Walsall has been re-arranged as it clashed with the Jewish festival of Yom Kippur.

In the recorded request of its kind, City approached the Football League after they received enquiries from supporters within the Jewish community.

And Walsall agreed to the switch so the game will now be moved forward by a day to Tuesday September 25.

Speaking on the Football League's site, Sandra Whiteside. The head of fixtures, competitions and events, said: "This is a unique case in my experience. Clubs often highlight dates such as this when they complete our fixture questionnaire when the programme is being put together and we try to accommodate it at that stage.

"But this is the first time I have been aware of a game being moved during the season for these reasons."
