SALFORD Reds look set to appoint an experienced football director to work alongside coach Steve McCormack next season.
McCormack will stay on his role but Reds will almost certainly follow the trend set by rival clubs in appointing a coaching supremo.
McCormack said:''I would obviously like to know as soon as possible what the future holds for me and what could be happening.
''I am however looking no further than Sunday's final game against Wakefield.
''I badly want us to win and to see us sign off by giving the fans a much needed boost.''
Possible targets
Three high-profile former Wigan coaches are being bandied about as possible targets for the Reds who have endured another disappointing season.
They have lost 19 Super League games and have managed only one win since McCormack replaced John Harvey last month.
Possible targets include Frank Endacott who started the season as Wigan coach but left by mutual consent.
John Monie is another along with Eric Hughes, who was linked with Salford in the past and who will soon sever long-standing links with St Helens.
Hughes combines a key administrative role at Knowsley Road with coaching the Liverpool/St Helens Rugby Union Club.
Graham Murray, the former successful Leeds coach who has just been sacked by the Sydney Roosters could also interest the Reds should he opt for return to England.
McCormack at 28 is the youngest head coach in Super League and Reds chief executive Dave Tarry has saluted his courage in taking the job at a time when the Salford camp was split following Harvey's decision to stand down.
He is an innovative and ambitious coach and has already had a positive impact on the club, but Reds bosses may feel could develop alongside a senior figure.
