RL: Offiah may join union

SALFORD winger Martin Offiah could be in line for a surprise return to rugby union next season.

Two top English clubs are ready to target him to see if he is interested in signing a one-year deal.

Offiah will be out of contract at the end of this season, and he has hinted at retiring. Although Offiah played for Rosslyn Park RU before joining Widnes, it seems more likely that he will opt for a career in the media than switch codes.

But he has still to confirm his future plans, and a final season in union is an option open to him.

Salford will not be offering him a contract extension.
