RUGBY League bosses will increase competition in next year's Challenge Cup by allowing four top French clubs to play in the game's premier knockout tournament.
In addition, a European knockout tournament, as revealed in M.E.N. Sport last month, is also being discussed by member clubs.
This could involve Super League clubs and it will take place before the start of the Northern Ford Premiership and it is seen as a way to generate additional income.
The format for next season's Super League competition has still to be decided but the majority of clubs are opposed to playing one another more than twice.
Salford Reds, meanwhile, hope to have Mike Wainwright back in the pack for Sunday's clash with London.
Coach John Harvey still has key players injured.
Wigan
WIGAN'S Australian half back Matthew Johns gets the go-ahead to face Bradford on Friday night despite damaging a finger against St Helens last week.
Coach Stuart Raper said: ''It's quite a unique injury involving ligament damage. It probably requires surgery but that would put him out for three or four months. The surgeon says it shouldn't affect his play so he'll play on with it.''
Irish winger Brian Carney could also be fit to play against Bradford but there are doubts over forwards Mick Cassidy and Paul Johnson.
Australian star Brett Dallas is back after a month out, and prop Francis Stephenson will replace Terry O'Connor, who faces a six week lay off.
The Irish skipper goes into hospital today for an operation to repair his damaged nose.
Warriors meanwhile are chasing another top Australian for next term following the capture of Jamie Ainscough.
He sustained the horrific injury in a clash of heads with team mate Neil Cowie and requires surgery to clear the airways of smashed bone.
Saints
SAINTS officials have apologised for the behaviour of a small number of fans during the minute's silence for former Knowsley Road chairman Joe Pickavance.
Warrington
FORMER player Paul Cullen is favourite to be the new Warrington coach but former Wigan boss John Monie is also in the frame.
