Speedway: Fury over Bjerre 'deal'

BELLE VUE have lodged an official complaint with the British Speedway Promoters Association about the "deplorable ethics" used by Elite League champions Peterborough over their signing of Danish rider Kenneth Bjerre.

New Aces boss David Gordon had already spoken to the BSPA about Peterborough's conduct over Bjerre, who was already the subject of an embargo preventing any club from speaking to him until next March.

Gordon then made the complaint official after Peterborough announced that the rider had signed for them.

Gordon said: "We had given them and another club permission to speak to Bjerre. The next thing is Peterborough have announced they have signed him.

"We only gave them permission to talk to Bjerre because he was a lost cause at Belle Vue. We had circulated the fee we wanted on a sale only basis.

"How can Peterborough announce they have signed the rider when they haven't even agreed a transfer fee?

"Their ethics are deplorable. They announced the signing, even though the BSPA had told them not to do it and I'm livid about this."
