GOLF Swinton Park assistant David Smith blew a chance to win the Leeds Cup, professional golf's oldest trophy, with a couple of late bogeys at Cobble Hall.

Smith nosed one shot in front half-way through the third and final round but his mistakes cost him dearly as he settled for a share of fourth place - one stroke off the pace.

Leasowe's Neil Price won the title for the second time in eight years with a birdie at the second extra play-off hole, edging out Steve Parry and David Clark, the 2004 M.E.N. Manchester Open winner.
