GRAND Final defeat and despair leaves Leigh boss Paul Terzis sweating over his future.
Super League doors have again slammed shut in the Centurions' face and Terzis could carry the can.
Rochdale Hornets boss Martin Hall could emerge as a possible target for Leigh if the axe falls on Terzis. Billy McGinty, who coached Wigan and was with Sale RU last term, will be another serious contender.
Whatever happens, indisciplined Leigh must learn to clean up their act following Saturday's 38-16 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Giants. Too many players lost their cool and sadly seemed more interesting in fighting than playing rugby.
Leigh tried to combat Huddersfield's flair with their flying fists and paid the ultimate price for too many cheap shots.
Question marks
One has to question Terzis's tactics against a Giants team who powered into Super League by stepping up a gear in a one-sided second-half.
Luckless Leigh were again left licking their wounds.
They lost the plot in the latter stages of the first period after rocking the Giants with a couple of fine tries from Dale Cardoza and Ollie Marns.
The normally reliable Neil Turley then missed penalties when it seemed wiser to press for tries with Giants on the backfoot.
Turley further blotted his copybook by foolishly kicking out at an opponent. From the subsequent set play, the first of Marcus St Hilaire's two tries gave Huddersfield a decisive yet undeserved 14-10 interval lead.
Terzis said: "At half-time, we said if we could come up with the same performance in the second half, we'd win the game - we didn't,"
The tide turned against Leigh when a controversial decision on the intervention of a touch judge allowed Huddersfield the head and feed from a scrum. Chris Thorman scooted over unopposed and a mass brawl broke out.
Leigh's only reply, apart from a John Hamilton try and substituting Bobbie Goulding, was throwing a water bottle at Steve McNamara as he prepared to covert the final try.
It hit him on the head. Frustration had clearly got the better of a team who could so easily have won.
This showpiece event was more like all-in wrestling at times.
The Giants line-up included man-mountain Eorl Crabtree - a relative of the late Big Daddy. Unfortunately for Leigh, too many players tried to match his arch-rival Giant Haystacks.
Should Terzis go? have your say
