And he is hoping they will continue this afternoon when he starts his second round in the Morson International Pro-am Challenge after his opening six-under-par 64.
Scotland, in second place two shots adrift of Welshman Mark Pilkington, revealed that he was born a couple of well-struck drivers away from Marriott Worsley Park where the é100,000 tournament - run in association with the M.E.N. - is being played.
"People think I am from Surrey but I always have to point out that I was born here," said Scotland.
"I always feel at home when I play in Manchester because every time I come here I get pretty good feelings. My dad and his family have been United fans all their lives and I follow the team, too."
Scotland, who has struggled to make the transition from amateur to professional since he joined the paid ranks three years ago, added: "I think that is the best that I have struck the ball for about a year.
"I played the Challenge Tour event in Milan a few weeks ago and played just terrible.
"Then I went to the Europro event in Portugal and finished second after the play-off, so I don't really know where the form has come from but I am certainly not complaining.
"The greens were spot-on and this generally a good course so it was possible to put a good score on the board."
Pilkington, meanwhile, continued the form that took him to second place in the Moroccan Classic but his 62 did not count as a record because preferred lies were in operation.
