CRAIG Williams has fired surprise packets Crompton to the top of the Lake Garage Central Lancashire League.

The South African, who was with Stretford in the Manchester Association last year, hit his second century on successive weekends and took four wickets in the 45-run defeat of Milnrow.

And with previous leaders Walsden crashing by eight wickets at Littleborough, allied to Norden's slump at Rochdale, Crompton now top the table by three points.

WOODHOUSES are another surprise table-topping team in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League.

The Failsworth area side, who slumped to 11th in 2005, hit the top after fine victories over Denton West and Irlam. Australian overseas amateur John Seeary was the star, hitting a half-century against West then taking five-wickets in the 71-run defeat of Irlam.

Champions Denton St Lawrence, for whom pro Jason Bennett claimed 8-21 in Saturday's rout of Thornham, were stopped in their tracks the following day by Denton, for whom Ghulum Abbas took five wickets and Danny Rice hit 54.

HOLLINWOOD are upstaging the pre-season favourites by jumping to the top of the Per-Fit Windows Saddleworth League.

Professional Aamer Bashir was the star with 73 in Saturday's 29-run win over Saddleworth, then 70 in the easy win over Stayley the following day.

EDGWORTH are showing that their stay at the summit of the Anthony Axford Bolton Association is no fluke after a fourth successive victory.

They toppled Blackrod in a rain-affected game, with Nick Kernick making a half-century and share the lead with champions Walshaw.

BRADSHAW have gone joint top of the Anthony Axford Bolton League with Farnworth after a seven-wicket victory over Astley Bridge.

Bridge pro Amal Dalugoda hit an unbeaten 107 out of 206-4, but Bradshaw cantered past their target in just 36 overs, with David Morris 83 not out.

WYTHENSHAWE had cause to thank the weather as they reached the semi-finals of the Surridge Sports Trophy in the Manchester Association.

The Longley Lane side were going well on 90-1 chasing South West Manchester's 191-7 in their final group game, but claimed the victory on a revised target as the rain played its part.

AN unbeaten 93 from Lancashire's Paul Horton helped Sefton Park to a one-wicket win over Leigh in the Littlewoods Gaming Liverpool Competition ECB Premier League.
