NATASHA Podmore equalled Joanne Morley's 16-year-old record of three Cheshire Women's Championship titles in a row then pledged to follow the Sale star on to the US tour.

"I've always admired her," said the Warrington schoolgirl after beating Delamere Forest clubmate Olivia Briggs four and three in the final at Ringway.

"I'm going to San Francisco University in August to study sports science and plan to turn professional at the end of the four-year course.

"Joanne's done very well for herself over there and she is inspiring me to take the same route."

Natasha, 18, will not have her head buried in textbooks when she starts her degree course.

"Every university has a golf team and I will be playing on the West Coast Conference," said the one handicapper, who finished third in last year's English Strokeplay Championship at St Annes Old Links, which she led going into the final round.

That performance earned her selection to the England Under-21 elite squad, making her debut last month in the European Team Championship in France.

Meanwhile, she will have no problem coping with the big galleries if she makes it as a professional.

Last month she was invited to showcase her talents at half-time during the Warrington Wolves RL match against Bradford Bulls.

"There were 10,000 spectators but I was not nervous," she added.
