JAMIE Moore will defend his British light-middleweight title against Irish middleweight champ Matthew Macklin at Altrincham Leisure Centre on May 12.

The Salford fighter, who last year became the first fighter from the city to win a Lonsdale Belt outright, heads a list of local boxers handed title shots and eliminators in the latest list of announcements from the British Boxing Board of Control.

Middleton's Matthew Hall will get a shot at Andrew Facey's English light-middleweight title in Edinburgh on April 29. Hall will get a warm-up after being added to the undercard at Newport Sports Centre tonight, where stablemate Gary Lockett, from Cwmbran, faces Gilbert Eastman for the WBU's middleweight title.

Salford's Lee Meager will take on Dave Stewart for the British lightweight championship in Bethnal Green on April 7, and Wayne Pinder, from Failsworth, has been handed an eliminator for the British middleweight title, facing Paul Buchanan in Hartlepool on April 28. Tweet
