BELLE Vue eveteran Sam Ermolenko stormed back into top after injury and insisted:"Don't write me off - I'll be riding again next season."

The 41-year-old Californian, World champion in 1993, has just returned after a hand injury, but won three of his four races to play a key role as the Aces won their final home Elite League match of the season.

Evergreen Ermolenko's future has been the subject of conjecture in view of his latest injury, and the fact that he is making a new career for himself as a TV pundit.

But the old fire was still there last night (Monday) as he clocked one of the fastest times of the season, with 59.8 seconds in heat three.

Then he won the 14th with a barnstorming surge off the last bend to pass Poole's Lars Gunnestad on the line after earlier passing Andre Compton.

Ermolenko, who is riding for the Aces on loan from Wolverhampton, said: "A lot of people have been talking about what I'm going to do next season and seem to think that I'm going to retire.

"But this is the first time that anyone has actually come to ask me about my plans and I've no doubt that I will be riding again next season.

"I had a few problems with my machinery to sort out when I came back from my injury.

"But I've done that and now I'm winning races and enjoying my speedway. I have no trouble whatsoever motivating myself.

"I said at the start of the season that I'll keep on racing as long as I want to twist a throttle and nothing has changed."

The Aces again made hard work of victory, despite the springboard of Ermolenko and Jason Lyons taking full points from the third and fifth races to set up a 19-11 lead.

Poole were level three heats later but the Aces edged in with the points being shared in five of the last seven races.

They paid the penalty again for a low scoring pairing at reserve, where Tomasz Jedrzejak and Mark Burrows managed only three points.

It left the Aces unbalanced, and it is a situation which promoter John Perrin means to deal with.
