The Reds scored twice in each half to move above Wakefield and bring about real hope that they can avoid the drop to the NFP.
Showing no signs of nerves, it took the Reds just 14 minutes to take a deserved lead.
Ian Watson and Steve Blakeley were instrumental in the build up, before the ball was worked to former Warrington star Alan Hunte to score his first of two tries.
Blakeley added the conversion and although Lee Briers responded with a penalty, the Reds extended their lead before the break.
Watson was again involved in the build up as Salford opened up the Warrington defence allowing Jason Nicol to score.
Warrington thought they had hit back through Nathan Wood, but the scrum half saw his try disallowed.
And the points were sealed when Hunte collected a Briers clearance before racing 80 yards to score.
However, there was still time for one more score, with Australian Greg Ebrill going over in injury time to seal a great win that kept the Reds hopes alive.
Will the Reds beat the drop? Have your say.
