UK SPORT have scuppered any hopes that athlete Dwain Chambers could be eligible to receive lottery funding after his expected return to competition from a drugs suspension in the New Year.

Chambers is expected to relaunch his career on the indoor circuit after undergoing his final two rehabilitation drug tests.

The 27-year-old Londoner, whose two-year ban ended on November 7, is adamant he can prepare himself and get into shape to defend the European 100 metres title he won three years ago.

He was banned for taking tetrahydrogestrinone (THG).
