LANCASHIRE'S Sajid Mahmood and Oliver Newby have both signed contract extensions at Old Trafford.

Mahmood, 23, has played a single one-day international for England - against New Zealand last year - and will spend the winter with the ECB Academy in Loughborough.

Newby, 21, is trying to force his way into the Lancashire team on a regular basis.

Lancashire cricket manager Mike Watkinson said: "Saj and Oliver are exciting young quick bowlers, and we have high hopes for them.

"Saj has all the credentials to become an outstanding fast bowler for both Lancashire and England."
