The Cumbrian flyer carried on from last season with tries against Newcastle Falcons and Gloucester, before setting the record against London Irish at Edgeley Park.
He went one better the following week with a contender for try of the season against Saracens when linking up with Charlie Hodgson on his own try-line before swapping passes to score at the other end.
Before heading off for training with England at Loughborough, Cueto told MEN Sport: "It's always nice to receive awards and set records, but I am just happy to keep scoring tries.
"The way Sale play their rugby will always mean that wingers score on a regular basis.
Effort
"We have an expansive style of play and I am given the opportunities I need.
"I need the right pass or the right build-up to score, so it's really a team effort.
"I can't really go wrong with someone like Charlie running the show and the amount of possession we get from the pack has also been good recently.
"It's easy to get carried away with playing for England and the Lions, but without regular good performances for Sale, I wouldn't be in the frame.
"I have to focus on each game as it comes along, whether it's for club or country, and give the best account of myself that I possibly can."
Cueto has no bigger fan than Sale's director of rugby Philippe Saint-Andre.
The former French winger, who knows what it takes to succeed in that position, said: "Mark is without a doubt one of the best wingers in the game.
"He is very quick, very strong and most importantly he has the instinct.
"He can smell the line and has the determination to get across it."
It has been a meteoric rise for the 25-year-old from Workington who might have been lost to rugby union had he not been spotted by one of his teachers during a friendly game of rugby arranged by friends from rival schools.
Cueto was singled out as something special and Sale's Academy manager James Wade was alerted to his raw talent.
He was invited down to join the Jets and started to play for Altrincham Kersal.
He soon powered his way into the first team, and has been a regular ever since.
It took the England set-up a while to catch on, but they soon acknowledged his ability and once in the squad, Cueto started doing what he does best - scoring tries.
Cueto almost lost out on selection for the British and Irish Lions, but an injury to full back Iain Balshaw freed up a place for Cueto and he took his rightful place among the best players in Britain and Ireland.
Also in the running for September's award was Lancashire's Aussie all-rounder Andrew Symonds, who collected the LBM Player of the Year award at Old Trafford after running away with the fans' annual poll.

Mark Cueto is without doubt the current top winger in the Northern Hemisphere! Having watched him play in both home Guinness Premiership encounters at Edgeley Park, when Sale Sharks beat both Newcastle Falcons and London Irish I can only echo Philippe Saint-Andre remarks "He is very quick, very strong and most importantly he has the instinct.... He can smell the line!"
I watched Mark closely as he was, I am sure anticipating and preparing for his record try scoring opportunities. He was continually outwitting the defence with his positional strategy. At one time I thought he was attracting the linesman's attention in order to ensure he was not penalised (as he has been in the past) for off-side should Charlie Hodgson launch one of his infamous, pin point kicks towards the corner flag.
Mark Cueto is a most exciting player to watch and thoroughly deserves the accolade of being named the MEN/BBC GMR sports personality of the month!
