Wilson is 6-1 favourite to win the Swallow Hotels Waterloo title, set to be screened by Sky Sports. The 32-year-old from Oldham faces Yorkshire Merit champion Graham Hickey in the last 64 at the seaside venue on September 17, the start of the Blackpool Festival week, with finals day on Wednesday, September 21.
And the winner could face reigning champion Noel Burrows, of Hazel Grove, immediately above them in the draw.
Second favourite at 8-1 with Sale bookmaker Dave Jenkinson is Tommy Johnstone, champion back in 1985, with Cumbria's Martin Gilpin a 10-1 shot.
But the toughest part of the draw looks to be the bottom eight, which features Mark Britton (16-1), and 14-1 shots Kerry Morris, Glynn Cookson and Andy Cairns.
