KIM Hoyle can't make up her mind which career path to follow after learning this week that she had gained a degree in sport and recreation development at Leeds University.

"I'm at a crossroads," admitted the 21-year-old Rochdale member.

"If I can't make it as a pro I'd like your job!" grinned the former Bury Grammar School girl.

"Sports journalism appeals to me but I also want to get better at golf and play at a higher level.

"I've always wanted to turn professional and that's always a possibility."

Kim, whose immediate target is to lower her six handicap and play for Lancashire, has given her confidence a boost by reaching the fourth round of the JJB Sport Manchester Evening News Women's Championship.

It's the furthest she's been in the competition she has competed in since she turned out for Lancashire Girls, thanks to her three and one win over Heaton Moor's 17-handicapper Catherine Linsley.

"I had to give her a few shots but I had home advantage, which is always a great help," said Kim who learned the game from Rochdale professional Andy Laverty.

She's also having additional lessons from Brian Connor, at Hopwood, where she is also a member.

"His daughter, Rachel, won the M.E.N. title and I'm hoping to get my name on the trophy," added Kim, who has another home tie, against 15 ranked Lynn Kershaw, the Oldham member edging through against Dukinfield's Cathy Snowdon.

And if she wins that match, she could face Crompton and Royton's Zoe Styles, who lost last year's final against Caroline Atherton.

Zoe, who's off seven, beat Cathy's clubmate Elizabeth Marsden two and one in the last round.

And there's no stopping Mere teenager Charlotte Wild as she overcame Mary Buckley, of Oldham, on the final green to set up a home date with Macclesfield's Rita Barton.
