CHORLTON professional David Valentine faces two major obstacles at Bramall Park on Wednesday when he bids to hold on to his Manchester Golfer of the Year title.

He is five points behind High Legh Park's Anthony Sproston, with Dukinfield professional David Green chasing hard.

Even though there are 90 points at stake for the winner of President's Day - the traditional final fixture in the Manchester Alliance schedule - the trio are the only surviving contenders of a battle that began in September.

The only way Green can pip them is to win on Wednesday while they fail to score.
