IT'S not just John Renyolds and the Rizla Racing Suzuki team that will be looking for championship glory when the British Superbike circus sets up camp at Oulton Park this weekend.
Christian Elkin, from Macclesfield, leads the 125GP class by 15 points as he heads into the penultimate round of the season and he could wrap up the title on his home track.
Elkin isn't going to have it all his own way though, as Ballymena's Eugene Laverty is in second place and has hounded Christian since Silverstone in March, "It would be awesome if I could wrap up the championship this weekend," says Christian, "but Eugene isn't going to make it easy for me.
Elkin can only wrap up the title if he wins and Laverty fails to score, "I'm looking to claim as many points as I can this weekend, but it's going to be tough," says Elkin.
R6 Cup racer Adam Jenkinson is another Manchester based rider heading to Oulton this weekend, but after breaking his pelvis at Knockhill and losing out in the title chase Adam is focusing on next year.
"I'm still not fit, but I'm getting better every race," says Adam, "I'm still walking with a limp and I'm feeling pain on the bike, but the big problem is that I can't do any training down at the gym."
Jenkinson won 3 of the first 4 Yamaha R6 Cup races this season including his debut race at Oulton and was being touted as a championship contender, but his injuries have meant that the title has already gone to Londoner Richard Wren.
"I had a really good start to the season and I have had a lot of bad luck since," says Adam, 'but I should be well up front at Oulton."

After throwing the bike across the grass while running in second place at Oulton Park today, Christian remounted and hauled himself up to seventh position by the end of the race. Theoretically, he could still take the British Championship at the last meeting of the season at Donington Park next Sunday.
