WEEKEND preview of all the region's non-league action.
Embattled Stalybridge boss Dave Miller has sent an SOS to ex-Bury midfielder Lenny Johnrose.
Miller has appealed to Johnrose, now a fitness instructor at Leeds United, to come out of retirement and help avert a potential Bower Fold selection crisis.
With Paul Sykes and Dave German both unavailable and skipper Kevin Parr struggling to shake off an ankle injury, Bridge, who were already without Chris Denham, Danny Caldecott, Greg Pearce and Scott Bonsall, face going into tomorrow's key home Conference North battle with Barrow with only a dozen fit players.
That's clearly a desperate situation for Miller, who's already facing the strain as his side have yet to win in six starts, and he's praying 34-year-old former Shakers favourite Johnrose can see his way to help him out of it.
Said Miller: 'I've spoken to Lenny and he's seeing if his work commitments with Leeds will allow him to play for us.
'I've also been speaking to a couple more players and, hopefully, we can get something sorted, because otherwise we might be down to just the bare 11 and one substitute.'
Elsewhere, Altrincham chief Graham Heathcote hopes to have defender Gary Scott back from injury for the home clash with Harrogate - a team the Robins have failed to score against in four previous meetings.
Injured Ashton United pair Darren Royle and Jamie Miller are now nearing fitness but won't be risked in tomorrow's Hurst Cross duel with Hucknall, while Droylsden boss Dave Pace is set to stand by the side which drew 1-1 at Redditch on Monday for the trip to Gainsborough.
Meanwhile, in Conference National, Leigh entertain fellow strugglers Forest Green in what already has the makings of a relegation battle.
Northwich, who are also once more at the wrong end of the table, will have their hands full at high-flying Aldershot.
Hyde, lying second in the UniBond premier with 10 points from 12 games, travel to Bridlington, while stuttering title favourites Radcliffe head further north, to Gateshead.
First division quartet Mossley, Woodley, Chorley and Warrington are all on FA Cup duty, as are a clutch of local NW Counties League sides.
