JAMES Pickford's dream came true when he booked his seat in next season's British Touring Car Championship yesterday.

The 25-year-old Macclesfield driver secured his place in saloon car racing's top category by winning the Holiday Inn SEAT Cupra Championship at Donington Park.

His prize is a place behind the wheel of a SEAT Sport UK Toledo Cupra in the BTCC.

He said: "I'm a mixture of emotions - happiness because I've won the biggest prize in British motorsport and I'm a professional touring car driver and relief because it's all over!

"My dream in life is to get paid for racing and that's what I will be doing next year. I'm looking forward to it. I still can't believe the prize I've won, although seeing my name on the side of the Toledo Cupra has helped it sink in a little."

Pickford finished third and fourth in the final two rounds to secure the title by 10 points.
