BOLTON's teenage boxing sensation Amir Khan has failed to win a gold medal in the Athens Olympics after losing his lightweight division final.
The 17-year-old from was beaten by the hugely experienced defending champion, Cuban fighter Mario Kindelan.
Khan, who will receive a silver medal, said afterwards: "It could have gone either way.
"I tried my best. I had nothing to lose."
Kindelan is regarded by many experts as one of Cuba's best ever boxers and he dominated the bout after a tense opening.
The Cuban won the bout 30-22, confirming predictions before the fight which made him strong favourite.
Khan said he is looking forward to catching up with his friends and taking his driving test in the near future. He added: "The Olympics will come again for me. He is the best boxer I have seen for a long time ... never mind.
"Maybe at the next Olympics I can win the gold medal."
After the fight, former world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, advised the teenager to gain more maturity before turning professional.
Should Khan go professional? Have your say.

What a figher Amir is. I mean, ok Floyd and Ali, got there gold when they were 18, but they did not fight a boxer like the Cuban in there finals.
Any way, stay amateur for 2 years and then Amir sholukd go for the Pro.
He will probably be the best boxer coming from GB. Better than Naz.
All Pakistanis are prowd of you Amir, you are the man.
go for it boy///make us proud
I feel has got great skills and ability. I feel he still needs to remain amateur as he is only 17 years of age.
I think Khan should think about it more if he want's to go professional but still if he keeps up his act then maybe he will some day before the next Olympics
This kid is heavy. I've been boxing for 3 years amd I've seen people in and out of the ring, but none like him. Amir Khan lit the world up with his fighting, big up to you!
