MICHAEL Bentwood returns to British Touring Car Championship action at Brands Hatch this weekend after missing the last round at Knockhill due to financial problems.

"We ran out of resources," said the VX Racing Junior driver from Hale.

"We knew we had to miss a meeting, but we're all right now for the rest of the season."

Bentwood hopes to build on his front-row qualifying performance last time the BTCC ran at Brands.

"I feel good about the circuit," he said. "But the factory cars will have moved on since I qualified second there earlier in the season.

"My season's not gone the way we wanted, but I'm feeling confident. I just hope we can put bad luck behind us."

Bruno Senna, the nephew of three-times Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna, makes his debut in the two Formula BMW UK rounds at the Brands meeting.

World champion Petter Solberg vows to put his recent bad luck behind him in this weekend's German Rally.

Solberg, who has retired from the last two rallies to allow championship leader Sebastien Loeb to stretch his advantage at the top to 22 points with seven rounds remaining, said: "The thing now is to keep positive."
