Promoter John Perrin is ready to quit after a rain-wrecked season that has left the club with a serious cashflow problem after the postponement of 12 home meetings.
The loss of matches on Monday and Wednesday were the last straw for the Salford-based promoter, who has run the track since 1988 when it moved from Hyde Road to the nearby greyhound stadium in Kirkmanshulme Lane.
Perrin said he was open to offers for the club and Partington-born Morton admitted today that he would love to be able to help.
Time is his problem but he is convinced there is no danger to the club's future and that a buyer will be found.
Morton, who now works in financial services, told M.E.N. Sport: "I've always been interested in getting involved with the Aces but there have been work restraints on my time.
"I had talks with John Perrin last season about the possibility of becoming team manager but I didn't pursue it because I felt I couldn't give it my best shot.
"It is very sad to see the Aces with these problems and obviously the weather is the significant reason.
"I don't believe they have ever been in this position before because of the weather. It's hard to believe how bad it has been. But if John is thinking of hanging up his boots I think there will be plenty of people who are prepared to talk to him about taking it over.
"I have always kept in touch with events at Belle Vue although I don't go as often as I'd like. It's sad to see the problems they are suffering but it is a retrievable situation."

Lymm-based Collins rode for the Aces with Morton during a purple patch in the club's history during the 1970s and 80s and they won the World Pairs title together in Italy in 1984.
Collins, who was involved in the consortium with Perrin that rescued the Aces in 1988 when Hyde Road stadium was closed, said: "I can feel for him with the problems he's having because of the weather.
"To be rained off twice in three days like he has been this week is horrendous and the forecast isn't good for next week.
"It's like the monsoon season and we didn't have problems as bad as this when I was riding. The frightening thing at the moment is that there seems to be no end to this weather."
Collins added: "If John is putting the track up for sale it's up to him and it's not for me to comment.
"But I just hope that, despite their current problems, they can keep it running OK until something happens.
"Speedway has a lot of credibility at the moment with live coverage on Sky TV and it's important that clubs like Belle Vue keep going." Tweet

Good to see that PC and Mort are keen to see, and maybe help, the Aces not only survive, but prosper.
Even if they couldn't commit themselves to taking over BV, they must have numerous contacts in the sport who may be in a position to do just that.
If my 30 years experience in leisure management can help a prospective buyer, I'm at his service.
Sam.
It would be great to see the likes of Morton and Coillins playing a part in the resurgence of Belle Vue. I can see Collins doing for Belle Vue what Bobby Charlton does for United. He's a face that all the media know, and we need to rebuild a relationship with the media which Perrin has destroyed.
The M.E.N. used to sponsor Belle Vue. I hope the MEN can quickly confirm that they will back a new promoter. We need good relationships with the media.
I think once Perrin is out, the future will look very bright for Belle Vue.
I am also willing to help in any way i can.I have supported the Aces for 28 years and i do not want to see our proud and prestigious club to fold.
Great News for the Aces that Perin wants out. There are many of us fans who are willing to chip in a modest amount of money to help a new promoter, but we won't give our money to Perrin. There are also many, many fans who have vowed never to set foot in Belle Vue whilst Perrin is there. They are all waiting for a new Promoter before they return.
Lets hope Allan Ham, Peter Collins and Jim Lynch launch a takeover bid. They would have the full backing of us all and the ex-fans who Perrin has alienated will be back.
What we need is a decent stadium, something like the old one used to be, with high seating all around so you could look down on the racing, have the owners tried begging from the Lottery fund?
The stadium today has no atmosphere whatsoever, and it will not be long before we lose speedway at Belle Vue.
