DAVID Warnock's winning record at Donington Park was dented when he took on the fastest drivers in the world in round six of the FIA GT Championship and finished sixth in class.
The rain came down in sheets throughout the practice sessions, but when race day dawned bright and sunny Warnock, from Alderley Edge, had to take a gamble, 'we had to guess on a dry set up, but we got it wrong and we just went backwards,' he said.
With the added penalty of a having to carry extra weight because they are not competing in the whole championship, the team tried to make changes to the car in the pit stops, but to no avail, 'we tried to sort the car out, but it didn't work and then we had a puncture that put us a lap down,' Warnock said.
While there was no silverware at the end of the day Jordan Warnock Racing can be pleased with another successful international outing that saw them very much on the pace in the wet practice sessions, 'it's always good to get a finish in a world class field like this,' Warnock added.
Jordan Warnock Racing will be continuing their progress in the international arena when they take their new Porsche RSR to the six-hour race at the Nurburgring next weekend.
Also competing on the world stage Wilmslow's Natalie Barratt suffered another technical failure while taking part in the Junior World Rally Championship in Turkey.
Barratt was rallying a new Clio S1600 high-up in the Anatolian Mountains when she slid wide on a patch of mud and ended up in a ditch, and on trying to restart the car discovered a fuse had blown.
Natalie's co-driver Carl Williamson managed a temporary fix by jamming a screw driver across the terminals, but they lost all power halfway through Stage 3 and had to retire, 'It's a good job I'm not a superstitious person because at the moment I seem to have no luck," says Natalie.
