EX-BRITISH sportscar champion David Warnock from Alderley Edge will be taking to the track this weekend and competing against the world's best drivers and cars at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
David will be driving the PK Sport prepared Porsche 911 that he raced in this years' Sebring 12 Hours and will be sharing driving duties with Paul Daniels from Liverpool and American racer Jim Matthews.
Warnock, finished sixth in his class last year will be looking for some silverware to go with his 1999 Daytona 24 Hours class honours trophy.
For fans unable to make the trip to Le Sarthe for the French endurance classic, or to rural Ireland for the British Touring Car Championship, there is a chance to drive your road car around Oulton Park in Cheshire.
Oulton Park's new owner and former F1 racer Jonathon Palmer is offering the opportunity for visitors to Saturday's race meeting to drive 1 lap of the circuit in the lunch break.
"Oulton Park is a fantastic circuit,' says Palmer, 'we are determined to make motor racing more accessible to spectators, and we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity for people to see exactly how awesome the track is from a driver's eye view.
The meeting marks the first visit to Oulton of the new Formula Woman Championship and the mid-way point of the Formula Palmer Audi Championship.
To drive your car on the circuit all you have to do is show a valid driving license and you can drive 1 lap behind a safety car. Tickets for the meeting are '10 and kids under 15 get in free.
