JON Cheetham, who dom- inated PGA North Region tournaments last summer and has since graduated to the Asian Tour, heads an impressive field in the Utopia Homes Cumbrian Spring Classic at Silloth-on-Solway on Tuesday and Penrith the following day.

The 36-year-old Mobberley professional, holder of the De Vere Hotels City of Leeds Cup and M.E.N. Manchester Open title, has just returned from competing in the Volkswagen Masters in China.

He will renew his rivalry with many of the players who trailed behind him in the North Region Delta Airlines order of merit last year, including the irrepressible pair David Shacklady, of Mossock Hall, and Wrexham's PGA Cup ace Simon Edwards.

They combined to win the Don Miguel PGA of Europe fourball championship with an amazing 54-hole total of 32-under-par at Atalya Park and Los Flamingos earlier this year. Tweet
