Beech hit Bay for five

CHORLTON'S Beech Sports had one of their best wins of the Altrincham Sunday Football League season with a 5-1 success over Navigation Bay.

The Beech shooting stars were evergreen Mark Colman and Martin Gordon with doubles.

Premier Division leaders Trafford Hawks had their game postponed against Timperley Big Shorts.

But they still retain a healthy 10-point lead over Buck Inn, who won a nine-goal thriller at Urmston Meadowside after trailing 3-0. Flynn (2), L and K Kaylor were on the mark for Meadowside before Buck hit back.

Trafford FC are still looking for their first win after losing 2-1 against Pelican. Kevin McGrath gave Trafford hope but Pelican hit back with Andy Meadows’ brace.

In Division One Partington Village overtook leaders Sale West United, who had their game postponed. Partington’s 7-1 win over Bricklayers Arms took them to the top, with the Bricklayers’ consolation coming from keeper Tom Gibbon with a spot-kick.

Broadway maintained their winning run at Ladybarn to ease into second place with an emphatic 5-1 win. Law scored Ladybarn’s consolation but Broadway’s goals flowed from Denton (2), Rowbotham, Ginder and Speight.

Dave Road Central gained revenge for an earlier defeat with a 4-2 win at Sale Excel coming from strikes by Webb, Gorman, Hampson and Bott that topped the Excel efforts from Rutherford and Buckley.

Martin Flanagan was the highest scorer of the day, hitting five in Bar Amp’s 7-2 win at USC. Quinn and Smith took Bar Amp into seventh heaven with Rodgers supplying both of the USC consolations.
