BY the time Altrincham travel to Oxford United on Saturday [17th], it will be almost three weeks since they last played a game of football.
Altrincham’s fixtures against Northwich Victoria and Mansfield Town were both postponed and the last time the Robins were in action was their 2-1 win at York City on December 28.
Off the field, the Altrincham Supporters’ Club (TASC) has launched an SOS, Strengthen our Squad, campaign to help the club. This is particularly important at the moment when the Robins’ match-day income is zero.
Anyone wishing to make a donation, large or small, should contact the club on 0161 928 1045.
There have been several fixture changes because of the weather and due to other clubs’ involvement in cup competitions.
Torquay United’s match at Moss Lane will now be at 7.45pm on Tuesday, March 10, while Forest Green Rovers are to visit Altrincham on Tuesday, March 31, at 7.45pm.
The postponed home game with Northwich Victoria and the away match at Mansfield Town have not yet been rescheduled.
However, another match which has had a change of date is the away trip to league leaders Burton Albion.
This will now be on Saturday, January 24, at 3pm.
The club is hoping to run supporters’ transport to this game; for details call Altrincham FC or log on to: www.altrinchamfc.com.
One benefit of the lay-off has been that injured Chris Denham and Robbie Lawton have had time to recover their fitness.
Denham will have to play his football wearing goggles after suffering a workplace eye injury.
Altrincham’s youth team games have also been severely affected by bad weather but they are scheduled to meet Pro Vision UK in a league match at Wythenshawe Town on Sunday [18th].
However, with the North West Youth Alliance fixtures subject to frequent change, the schedule could be altered again.
