CRICKET: Sale opening batsman Danny Halkon was named Young Player of the Year at the recent Right Move Abroad Cheshire County Cricket League awards.
Halkon [pictured] scored 730 runs for Sale’s first team, at an average of 46, including two unbeaten centuries.
He also scored another century on his debut for the full league representative XI and was a regular member of both the North-West Colts and Cheshire Under-19s.
His older brother Rick collected the John North Trophy on Danny’s behalf as he is currently spending the winter playing grade cricket in Australia.
This award made it a hat-trick for Halkon after he had collected both Young Player of the Year and Under-18 Player of the Year at Sale’s awards evening earlier this month.
The Under-18 trophy was the first to be awarded in memory of Graham Watterson, a former committee member and great supporter of Sale Sports Club.
Sale club chairman Rob Moore said: "Danny fought off tough competition from the best young players across the county for this award. He works very hard on his own game and it is a real testament to his dedication."
