ENGLAND ace Vicky Botwright will make her final appearance on the World Tour in Manchester in October.

The 31-year-old from Worsley has accepted the role of head coach for Manchester City Council at the National Squash Centre and will retire from the international scene after the World Open.

"I have loved my time on the WISPA circuit," said Botwright. "I have met many wonderful people that have been influential in my life.

"But I am taking this opportunity to work in my home town on a programme that many consider as world class. It's an exciting time for me and I am looking forward to starting my new career."

After joining the WISPA scene in 1998, Botwright, currently world No 11, reached 14 Tour finals, winning four titles and achieved a career-high world ranking of five.

Botwright, who this week took time out to coach Flixton Girls' School pupils, represented England with distinction in five successful European Team Championships and led her country to victory in the World Team Championships in 2006. A double medalist in the Commonwealth Games in 2006, Botwright won silver in the mixed doubles and bronze in the women's doubles.

"Vicky's record speaks for itself - she's a bit special," said WISPA chief executive Andrew Shelley.
