UNCAPPED Sharks scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth has been selected for England’s Six Nations squad.
It will be the 24-year-old’s first chance to impress at senior international level, having previously represented England Saxons and at under-21s level.
Wigglesworth said he was delighted to earn the call-up into the 32-man squad alongside his Sale team-mates prop Andrew Sheridan, winger Mark Cueto and flyhalf Charlie Hodgson.
Sharks’ director of rugby, Philippe Saint-Andre, said: “These four players deserve their call-ups by England.
“Wiggy [Wigglesworth] has been one of my most consistent players over the last couple of seasons.
“Charlie is a model professional who fought his way back after a career-threatening injury, Mark is just coming back into top form after some niggling injuries and Andrew is one of the best front row forwards in the world.
“We will miss them at club level but I think they will all serve their country well.”
