SAMOAN star Elvis Seveali'i is hoping to leave his Sale Sharks colleagues all shook up when he comes face-to-face with them at Edgeley Park on Friday night.

The mild-mannered man of the Pacific with the rock 'n' roll moniker will find himself locking horns with his clubmates when he steps out with his Manu Samoa colleagues for a crucial World Cup warm-up match.

And though the power-packed 29-year-old centre is one of the most popular players on the Sharks roster, he's warned Sale that he and his colleagues will be taking no prisoners in what could be a bruising encounter, given Samoa's fearsome reputation.

The Samoans, who are in the same pool group as England, South Africa and fellow Pacific Islanders Tonga, have already faced Northampton and Harlequins since arriving in England 10 days ago.

But for Seveali'i, who was a crucial component in the Sharks side that won the Guinness Premiership in 2006, tomorrow's encounter is one he's had highlighted in his diary ever since it was announced earlier this summer.

"It's going to a bit strange coming up against my club colleagues but I'm preparing as I would for any other game," said Seveali'i.

Opportunity

"We're all still fighting for spots in the Samoan Test team. Any opportunity that I get on Friday I've got to go for, so I won't be holding back at all."

However, Seveali'i revealed that, as yet, his Samoan colleagues had not been pestering him for any inside information.

"You know, its really funny. They all know about me playing for Sale but for some reason nobody has asked me for any special details about the Sale guys," he added.

"But we'll be concentrating on our own performance, regardless of what Sale do, as we're working towards where we want to be come the World Cup."

"That said, I'm looking forward to seeing Sililo Martens. He's a bit of a livewire and a good man and it will be great to see Charlie Hodgson playing again too."

If Seveali'i's all-action style wasn't enough to stop people in their tracks, his Christian name certainly is.

"My parents were massive Elvis Presley fans so I guess I've got them to thank for my name," he admitted. "When people hear my name, they stop for a second and look at me as if to say: 'Are you being serious?'

"But I've got some good friends back home who are called Elvis too so I guess I'm in good company!"

KICK-off against Samoa is 7.45pm on Friday. Tickets can be purchased at www.salesharks.com or from the box office on 08712 220120.
